Is experience the best way to improve your poker game?

Many players have trouble improving their game and they need to travel to Las Vegas, sit on some poker tables and be part of a big tournament . They read their favorite poker blog every day, learn all the impressive poker chip tricks, and play various other forms of the game (like Omaha hi) to improve their skills. But in the end, they never become better at online poker. Why is this?

Well, there is a good chance that they are not focusing on the right things to make them better. It is extremely important to have the fundamentals of the game down before you waste time at the poker tables. If you continually make the same mistakes and don’t realize it, you are not really getting better.

The best strategy is to read a few books on poker, then focus on one type of poker only. You may choose Omaha poker or even a stud game, but Holdem is the easiest game to learn on. Once you have the fundamentals down from a few books, head over to poker and play all that you can. The more you play after you learn the fundamentals of the poker game, the better you will get! Don’t waste time repeating the same mistakes – learn the fundamentals, then play!
